SWIFT is proud to announce our sponsorship of high school students from South Waikato who recently showcased their innovative business initiatives in the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES). This quarter, 12 enterprising students from Tokoroa High School and Forest View High School formed five new businesses, demonstrating exceptional creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
Supporting Emerging Entrepreneurs
Among the budding businesses, two standout initiatives received seed funding sponsored by SWIFT. Jordis and Kamaia from Forest View High School are in the process of developing a company name for their venture, which focuses on creating a line of laser-cut puzzles. Their range of products includes number puzzles for tamariki featuring Te Reo and Cook Island Māori translations, as well as jigsaw puzzles representing each of the Māori gods, aimed at an older audience.
Kaden from Tokoroa High School founded Fitt Sportswear, a line of activewear for men and women. Inspired by witnessing the positive impact of exercise on mental health, especially within her whānau, Kaden aims to use her business to spread messages of hope and support, bringing people together through fitness.
Judging the Future
SWIFT was honored to participate on the judging panel during the pitching sessions. We were immensely proud of all the students' efforts, their innovative ideas, and their dedication to their projects. Each pitch showcased the talent and potential within our district, reaffirming our belief in the power of youth entrepreneurship.
Looking to the Finals
As the competition progresses, we eagerly anticipate the next stages and look forward to seeing which of our talented young entrepreneurs will make it to the finals. The journey so far has been incredibly inspiring, and we are excited to continue supporting and celebrating the achievements of these remarkable students.
