A powerhouse line-up of women with strong connections to South Waikato returned to their hometown this month to inspire the next generation of young women.
Hosted at the South Waikato Sports Centre, the annual International Women’s Day event brought together Years 12 and 13 students from local high schools to hear from inspiring women leading in their respective fields across media, business, writing and sports.
Through insightful keynote speeches and intimate small-group conversations, students had the opportunity to connect deeply with inspiring industry leaders. These moments offered more than just career advice, they revealed how resilience, confidence, and passion can open doors, break barriers, and lead to meaningful success in life and work.
The event was organised by the South Waikato District Council, Space to Grow, Nothing Naughty, and South Waikato Investment Fund Trust (SWIFT) and welcomed students from Tokoroa High School, Forest View High School, Bishop Edward Gaines Catholic School, YMCA, and Putaruru College.
